Couples Therapy

Is your relationship facing challenges or feeling distant? You’re not alone—many people experience these feelings but hesitate to seek help. If you and your partner want to build a more fulfilling relationship but aren’t sure where to begin, relationship counseling can guide you in taking that crucial first step.

Therapy can also be beneficial even when things are going well. Many couples use counseling as a proactive measure to enhance communication, prepare for marriage, or address financial matters, among other things. Contact Andover Family Counseling to see how Couples Counseling might benefit you.

Child & adolescent therapy

Children often experience intense emotions like anger, sadness, and grief but may lack the cognitive skills to fully understand or express these feelings, leading to disruptions at home, school, or daycare. Play therapy is a proven approach that helps children address and navigate these challenges.

A trained play therapist connects with your child from their perspective, allowing them to lead the play. This process helps us understand and identify what your child is going through and provides both you and your child with valuable tools to navigate these difficulties.

Additionally, we have multiple skilled therapists at Andover Family Counseling who specialize in working with adolescents. Our Registered Play Therapist and adolescent experts can guide you through every step of the therapy journey, supporting your child’s growth, healing, and well-being

EMDR

What is EMDR Therapy?

According to EMDRIA, “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a well-researched and effective psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.”

How does EMDR work?

EMDR utilizes a technique called bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess and resolve trapped memories, resuming normal information processing. This method is not hypnosis but is used by therapists to assist clients in addressing negative beliefs and experiences. For a more detailed explanation, please visit the EMDR Institute, Inc.

EMDR has been shown to be beneficial for treating conditions such as:
